| Alorel of the Otherforest | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Actually, Alorel wasn't from the Otherforest at all. He's from another planet, which kicked him out. Forcing him to leave via one of the odd portals through space-time. When he arrived to the Otherforest, in the Hall of Portals, he vowed that he would eventually take the planet for his own. He's come very close to doing so. Alorel is a tall, pale, elfin man, with a huge mop of ash-grey-brown hair, eyes of glittering golden green. He is fiercely beautiful, with a disdainful look in his eye and a rare - if slightly unpleasant - smile. He dresses in silken or fur lined robes, occasionally putting on a heavier suit fit for an overstuffed Victorian gent, and even has been seen in a space suit of the glittery silver variety. |

| Alorel shown here is a powerful fire and ice mage. He knows just as many 'book' spells as he does psionic abilities, if not more. A word of power from him can kill a huge beast, or soothe a crowd. When given the choice, Alorel opts for the easy, evil way. He is unkind, often sadistic, but he is also quite level headed and can concentrate for long periods of time - long, as in centuries. Alorel arrived to the Otherforest centuries before the first Elf, Snow, came from Earth. Though she came through another far distant portal, Alorel called her to his side. She was after all the most powerful of the arrivals, the First of each species always are. Alorel lived in the Hall of Portals for many years, off and on having others there as well. He also has a space ship or a portion of one, which had been stuck in the desert halfway across the world. Both of those held books, maps, and information that only he was able to accurately decode. The ship on the other hand held a zoo of stored creatures, living in stasis tubes in a grand hall. Alorel's obsession with power brought him to wait and watch the new Elves. As they grew, bred and trained one another, he noticed certain of them had power which he desired. As a living battery, a child was stolen literally from his mother's arms, along with her, and dragged across six planets before a bold group of rescuers put an end to this. Alorel was forbidden to come back to the Otherforest, at least through the portal which he'd come in. However, many decades later, several elves who had never heard of him went blundering into the ship - which was crashed deep into the swamp land near the Hall. They accidentally activated a teleporting/summoning device, and there he was. Angry. Sent away once more, but not defeated forever, Alorel waited for centuries before Snow finally felt her calling to him once again. Though this time, it was quite different. The elves had become complacent, and she wanted him to stir things up so they would wake up. Another task: to separate Blackbuck from Snow. That's another story entirely... |

| Shown above with his daughter Winterkill, who proudly takes after her father. In both versions, Celestial and Otherforest, Alorel eventually sires this daughter with Snow. They go on an intergalactic romp with Snow, Blackbuck and this pair, much later... Very odd. I know. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| In many ways the same, yet oddly different (combined with another similar character from The Endings and Zekiran universes, Tresis) the Alorel of Celestia is at once a more terrifying and wholly entertaining individual. This is taken from his Skyhaven character sheet - never used in a game or fan fic, because the Skyhaven people never got back to me. Sad. Name: Alorel Soulname: aiis Sex: Male Age: mature/youngish Race: Elf Tribe: Sky Haven Position: Celestial Elite Lifemate: Not interested in these up here... Lovemate: Has mates on the ground... Children: Winterkill (see below) Recognized: Snowdrift (grounder) Soul-siblings: One would hope not Father: Killed him-- don't tell, or else! Mother: Would have had her as his... Brothers: None known Sisters: None known Magic: 1. Sending -- extremely strong, his mind often feels blistering hot or bitter cold. 2. Black Sending -- more strong than it ought to be, when he Blacksends it's like ice being blasted at your soul-mind. 3. Domination -- by using his will power alone, Alorel has made pets of lower beings -- such as half-blooded elves, humans, trolls or what have you. 4. Understand -- something rare inside Alorel and very few others -- he has the ability to understand speech no matter whose. 5. Levitation -- moderately powerful, doesn't much use it when Outside. (Amended: when he hunts, and when he's trying to impress Zarah, he's flying) 6. Fire Blast -- using a bit of fire shaping, and his flight power, he can engulf someone with flames or pinpoint. 7. Ice wall -- manipulating water and his innate cold abilities, Alorel can cause a sheet of ice to form, at thicknesses up to around a hand-width. He is surely interested in learning more from the Mistress, and mayhave other powers which are just waiting for a victim to test out on. Mundane Skills: Literacy -- Alorel likes to record information in a written format, including mapping the ground below, tracing the lineages of those around him, etc. Impeccable Dress Taste -- anything he wears, he looks good in. It had better be silken, or the finest furs. Tinkering -- Alorel has watched Trolls, Humans and others (through memories of the Firstcomers?) in their creation of objects and devices, and enjoys the ability to design them, he has requested many odd items from metal shapers, and is very exacting about how they work. Hunting -- though he seems to detest getting dirty, Alorel hunts with a bloodlust that borders on insane. He uses a long spear with a terribly sharp metal tip, and as often as not can be found gutting things with his bare hands. Domination -- along with his mental power, Alorel can destroy with words as easily as he can with his spear. Observation -- he must be aware of all that people are saying, particularly about him, but he can come in handy as an invaluable snitch when offered a proper reward. He is very keen while watching other elves, and even when caught spying, he usually badgers his way out of any trouble. Cruelty -- yes, Alorel has taken this to an artform. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, if there is something he wants, he will GET it, regardless of the feelings of those involved. Build: Tall, slender and in his (and many other's) opinion, very sexy Complexion: Milky pale white Eyes: Frosted Greens, very narrow, seem to glow when using powers Hair: The colors of a fallen maple leaf covered with a fine layer of white frost, to waist in flowing waves Height: 6'3", straight -- never slouches Noticeable Features: scars? on me? NEVER. His ears seem small. Clothing: Silken Inside, usually flowing and lovely, often in shades of sunsets. He likes robes and cloaks, but he can be found wearing scandalously erotic pieces of leather... He really doesn't prefer to wear that uniform... a skullcap? Please. Not me. Oh, okay, if you insist. But only when I'm around YOU, my Mistress. Out of the Haven he likes hardy but soft leather wrapped around his chest, and long, snugly fitting leggings below a warm short-fur robe that goes to the ground. Outside wear is often in colors like faded green, pale brown, much more muted and for stealth purposes. He wears fur-lined boots Outside, and either nothing or simple sandals In. Artifacts:With the uniform, as a Celestial, he uses the crystals to enhance his flame and ice abilities, mostly. History: At a young age, Alorel began tinkering with tools. This has led to his abilities with design and such. At about age 120 or so, he "accidentally" watched his non-flying father fall to his death. The truth is that he pushed him, to the terrified shrieking of his mother. He was able to contain his mother's sendings, in fact wiping her mind mostly clean of the incident. She showed signs of worry near him, however, after that. Around two years later, his mother disappeared Outside. On the pretext of "finding his mother" he decided to act on the Celestial training. With it, he was able to learn to hunt and track, move about Outside with ease, and to hone his already formidible sending powers. While Outside, on one of his early trips, he ran across a tribe of non-pure-blood elves. However, far from wanting to obliterate them, he was made curious by their way of life. He watched this tribe of wolf-bloods for almost two hands of years before coming back to the Inside. He made no attempt to disguise the fact that he had not found his mother. Another trip, perhaps two dozen years later, Alorel finally contacts this tribe on the ground. One of the braver of them responds to his strangely tinted sending, and goes to her new master at his whim. Alorel makes a pet of this half-wolf until she falls prey to a longtooth cat. Alorel spends time Inside training his fire blasting ability. Then, he goes back Out. People are talking, within. This time, Alorel is more careful about who he abducts. A male named Fang falls to his willpower, even though he could easily have killed Alorel with physical means.Alorel brings back Fang to his den Inside. This doesn't sit too well with others. He finally drops Fang back to his tribe, insane and nearly homicidal after the horrid things done. Brought to bear Inside, Alorel allows himself to be chastised and waits out another two eights before going Out to find a new toy. At last, he begins tracking a female from a splinter tribe, named Snowdrift, and far from being an easy tag for him, she shows promise of resisting his magic and his words. Curious, and overwhelmed by the fact that Snowdrift offered him her soul name without even trying to get it, he remains fairly sedate and subdued in his mannerisms while she is pregnant. He also remains with her, isolated in a cave den above the woodlands where her tribe resides, while she bears the child. She is not missed, her name tells all. Two years later, their daughter, Winterkill, is born. Though she is still infused with mortal blood, Alorel is convinced that Winterkill carries enough of his powers that he might train her. He stays until Winterkill is weaned. Alorel brings the girl back with him, but leaves Snowdrift to her tribe. Winterkill remains a secret within the society. Personality: Well. Alorel is borderline crazy. He is arrogant, but seemingly with good reason. He is self-serving and very cruel to those he considers below him in any way, and that is usually anyone else at all. He respects those who can either defeat him in psionic combat or elude his wiles. He also respects power, and that power is sitting on a very lovely throne. Alorel could very easily take time to attempt to gain that throne, but he has in fact spoken to the Mistress about this very thing, and "knows his place" in the sceme of things. He is much happier being where he is, than he would ever be if he were in power. Alorel has many secrets, where his mother is, for instance. Why he killed his father, another. Also that he sired a half-beast child. He is not embarrassed about Winterkill, however he knows that her eventual discovery might mean a very serious run in with the rest of the Celestials. Alorel compulsively re-reads his journals, keeping old grudges alive that way. He is rigidly heterosexual, the thought of joining with another male would make him shudder -- unless it was a truly gifted one. He considers sex with animals a more likely encounter... He is not necessarily power hungry, but he is definitely knowledge-hungry and will not stop to get what he needs to know out of very nearly anyone. Current Events: since locating a very unusual girl on the surface, named Zarah, and taking her up to Celestia, he has been ousted (or knows he will be, hunted by the Mistress for crimes against her Elite) and has now discovered that he may be Recognizing the cat-shaper. For once, he feels quite comfortable talking, entertaining and protecting her, as well as showing off his hunting prowess for her. He has no idea where their relationship will lead, but he is interested in seeing it through. |
