To understand Rue, you gotta view Shard!
Viewing Rue
Rue Gonzalez, Reporter At Large!

Though Rue came first, she's never actually been one of "me" - I always most strongly identified with Shard or Triia, in Dawnlight Chronicles. She was created in 1987, group X19/1 (the first of that group). Though countries don't truly exist any more in the Dawnlight universe, she is of Mexican-American descent.

Rue in any universe is a reporter or gatherer of information in some way. She is tan skinned with stiff short caramel-tan colored hair, and very shapely legs. She doesn't really need to change for a universe - she's a constant.

She's also usually a constant threat to the oppressive governments she might find...
Rue Gonzalez
Female, Human, Born in Dawnlight to Lelio and Isabel Gonzalez, September 8, 2449.

Features: Stands around 5'10" and is built nicely. Tanned skin, very even and without visible scars or birthmarks. Rue has short cropped hair that sticks up normally, in a sort of rusty-caramel-tan shade. When it is long, it curls a bit, and she often wears it just barely to the nape of her neck. She has a long oval shaped face, with a straight, small nose, and tiny lips. Her eyes are large and almond shaped and are a beautiful amber shade. Her small eyebrows often make her look like she is a bit surprised at things around her. She is busty, but Shard's favorite part of her is her long, healthy muscular legs. She likes wearing dresses with low necklines and high side slits. Her voice is husky, and she pronounces words clearly and with power - she's a reporter after all. Everything about her seems professional, even when she isn't being particularly work-oriented.

Rue does not have any physical mutations, though it is clear to any telepath that she is *almost* latent at telepathy or empathy. Her mind is remarkably clear, and for that reason Etan chose to pair her with Shard. She catches on quickly as well, so when a telepath is speaking to her she often responds in kind by thinking hard at them. This took Etan by surprise when he first met her physically, and he would value her presence anyway.

She was born in Dawnlight, the oldest of three children. Ruben Gonzalez died when he was four, one year after Rocky was born. Rocky and Rue however are far closer than most sisters with eight years separating them. Rue is protective but lenient and loving toward her sister. Her mother and father both are in communications as well, Rocky would have been, but she went Outcast. While Rue loves her parents she wishes that her mother would stop hitting on Shard (or any of her prior boyfriends when she'd bring them home) and that Lelio would maybe get his butt off the couch and help his wife do the dishes or something. She loves them all dearly.

Rue started life in the Purple caste, and shortly after gaining her job with Dawnlight's television station she went up to Silver. She has not stopped gaining ranks within Silver, and will eventually get into the mysterious "Silver Eighteen" club (which is as high as one can get in Dawnlight's caste system). She did not get her caste by sitting around and letting other people do work for her. She has always been a doer as well as a quick thinker, and is rarely taken off balance by someone's action or appearance.

While she is not a bodybuilder or much of a physical worker, Rue is fit and healthy. She took classes in Dawnlight's self-defense courses before they were dropped (too many threats coming from the inside of the city, imagine that), and also learned how to use a hand crossbow before they were outlawed. She has a great eye for aiming and detail. Beyond all that, she is a sensible, friendly and powerful woman. She is often sharp tongued to someone who has earned her anger, but she prefers to use her wits to humble people instead of her fists.

When she was working in Dawnlight's reporting crew, Rue had seen several of their senior production staff change hands when some of them went Outcast. Without knowing where they had gone, Rue was put into their shoes and made a director. She often sits in front of the camera as a reporter, but only on her own assignments - "On Target" With Rue Gonzalez is a popular if heavily edited feature on Dawnlight tv.

Rocky was also selected for the job of camera and sound. However, Rocky just didn't fit in well enough with the whole politic of Dawnlight, and went Outcast. Though she did so happily, Rue would far have preferred that she remain nearby. But instead, an idea crossed her desk in the form of a pass outside the city. A pass which allowed Rue and several of the station (the SINGLE tv station by the way) workers to head out to the Underground, where Rocky lived.

It was not her idea, but it was a good one, and certainly an opportunity like this should never be ignored. Rue and her crew wound up filming a huge amount of highly illegal information from the Outcast, the outlaws and dozens of clones - outlawed from Dawnlight. Her On Target report did not air for another month and a half, but when it did it began to change the way the city looked at its politics.

While out there, Rue was priveleged to meet many unusual people, not the least of which were Shard and Triia. Triia was the leader of the Underground - much to her husband Ringo's ire - and they got along almost immediately. Shard... Well, he's her private story. Though Etan nudged their hormones together, Rue and Shard would stay together without it.

Rue accompanied the blue mutant on a run up to Northstar with a bare-bones crew of Rocky on camera, and Marcel doing sound. On their way back during the week long trip, Shard's hover van broke down (yeah, right, a likely story) and they wound up trading more than phone numbers (if you know what I mean...).

It took quite a long time, more than a year, for Shard to actually enter the city legally - but when he did so he eventually proposed and met Rue's folks. Joy of joys. Isabel hit on him, a sure sign that the elder Gonzalez liked Rue's choice. They were married the next year, and had to plan their children the hard way - through genetic engineering due to Shard's Exotic genes.

They have three children, two living. Shatter Celeste, and Ruben Aern, and Oni Ailea who died as an infant. Largely, Rue lives her life her way, and allows Shard and their children to live their own as well. When she puts her foot down on something, however, no one argues.

Rue saved the city President (whom she detests) from Ringo's attack, by crossbowing Ringo from across a courtyard. This earned her a place in Dawnlight's history books - as if she wasn't headed there already.
Free Land Holder Ruh Jhii, Curra/Polaen/Wivir, 10320

Ruh is largely the same as above, only with "bronze" skin and "orange-brown" hair. The image to the right is highly indicative of what her Dawnlight persona would love to wear on a regular basis. She is 6" taller on Zekira.

She is bred at 2nd degree by Ornith Kreei, bred for her vision and empathy.

Ruh has always been a Landmistress and while she does hold some Units she doesn't really use them much. She Holds 8 Units in Polaen/Oopet - a small homestead with an open air porch, 110 Units in Zerin/Ka/Astan - a beautiful forest home which she expects to eventually have servants of some kind running. Also in Zerin/Bohata/Dem, a 40 Unit broadcast station called "News That's Worthy", a video based station which allows anyone with something to say to contribute.

Her sister is Rox Jhii, a Bond (that's right, got herself bonded) but otherwise her life is an interesting mix of reporting and following Aern around.

Rue as a Junior is a spitfire of action. When she's rolling, get out of her way because you're gonna get rolled OVER. She is not above a little blackmail here and there to get her way. She greatly respects Carramba High's admin, and would do anything to stick around and help after she graduates.

She is "in" Aern's gang, but isn't so much a member as an observer. She does not like Ruben at all. No one does. She's played against him and his friends in Grudge Match Volleyball!
Rue, rider of Green Beirissath bonded at Lasair Weyr (defunct, old Talor dragons)

Bonded proudly to a green who only has eyes for Shard's blue Jeremoth. Rue on **** is very similar to the Dawnlight version, with the exception that she is a harper/bard, and not a reporter. She enjoys far more freedom as a dragon rider than anything else, because no one at Dawnlight Hold could force her to do anything once she bonded.

She probably has at least two kids with Shard here, and definitely others with other riders during her time apart from Shard (yes, they do spend some time apart!),

Rue much prefers the blue Shard to the tan one. She also is responsible for killing Rin'go on this world, but at his dragon light-brown Khalbalahath's request, only after E'tan told her of his relation with the man. He has allowed her to retain this memory in Dawnlight, but not on ****.
