Doll by dolldivine

Name: Endya

Gender: Female, Human

Age: 20

Origin: busy mining hold

Height: 5'11"

Build: Tall and quite strong, Endya is built like a warrior, with muscles on top of muscles

Skin: dark tan

Hair: black, mostly straight, and usually braided or tied back, though it's long enough to reach her waist when left free

Eyes: deep brown almond-shaped

Personality: If there's one thing Endya hates, it's being left with nothing to do. She's a very active person who loves to spar, and sometimes gives fighting lessons, though she doesn't have much patience with slow learners. She is somewhat introverted and has few friends, but she is content that way, as long as she has Kiyestath.

History: Taken from a poor crop-bearing farmstead, into a more or less stable mining town, originally Endya was meant to merely be a servant girl. At her early age she was quite pretty, but soon showed that she was as tough as any of the boys, and twice as strong. As she grew old enough to know what 'pretty' might mean to these miners, she realized she'd have to compete with them rather than run from them.

Endya's teen years were filled with hard work, labor, and learning. She's not much for the books, in fact it's a marvel that she can even read given the lack of it around her mines. Because there was always something going on, be it lifting or moving supplies, ores, or organizing tithes, Endya hardly noticed the looks that boys would give her. Some glared, because she was out-doing them in many ways, but others gazed at her and hoped maybe they'd get past her tough exterior.

They didn't realize that her exterior was only tough because she wasn't sure of what to do with them. She knew mine carts, she knew hard work, and she definitely knew how to handle a staff and her fists. It wasn't until her 17th turn that she had much in the way of a 'boyfriend', and even then it was awkward from both of them. Thankfully by the time she was 18 she had been searched.

Her strengths were obvious, she was no stranger to hard work and firestone stink. But to her intrstructors she was a bit tepid. She could comprehend complicated patterns for threadfall as well as star charts, but her conversations with any given person were so distant. She was hardly happy when put into the female candidates' shared dorms, so used to being one of the few women in the mines. Thus she hardly had anything in common with any of the women, and didn't want to really get into their debates about which boy was handsomer, or what Hold was more prominent. She didn't care a whit for any of that, hanging out with the boys until told to go back to her weyr.

When the smallish green and blue clutch at Sedona was finally ready to hatch, Endya was relieved to finally have a dragon to talk to instead of listening to the wherry-speak of the candidates. Also pleased because having a dragon, of any size, meant that she would be busy for most of her waking hours! At least until fully grown, but even then, the need for strong fliers against Thread was obvious.

Kiyestath broke shell among others in her clutch abruptly and with force, but then waited for the others to move out of her way rather than asserting herself to reach the candidates. It was Endya that came to her, feeling that itchy, hungry mind just waiting to pair up.

As the green grew in size and power, she also grew in talent - the ability to manipulate things with her admittedly-ditzy mind was clear from the start. She uses this power of telekinesis to hunt and fish, but also the handily hold on to things that might otherwise be lost by her rider: like her harness when it almost fell free, and like sacks of firestone that need to go to another rider but are too far to throw. A quick flapping of wings and two riders can get their reserve fuel rather than one, as Endya tosses hers, and Kiyestath drops her own to one below.
