Melolong WolfKeep is situated near the Planet Twenty Glenn Dragon reserve. In it, to be precise!

The few winged wolves that lived here with their dragon friends have participated in an unusual sort of festival for breeding, and brought home numerous young to show for it. Thus begins the triumphant start of Melolong WolfKeep!

Pups will be available for sponsoring or adoption, but they must go to good homes.

All the wolves on this caretaker page are drawn by Yakima and all thanks go to her for providing them!

The wolves here are considered the Founders of Melolong, and are not adoptable. They share the responsibility of caring for the young Glenn dragons, as well as training them - but they also enjoy interacting with the Zekirans and anyone else who comes along to the Keep.

The Keep itself looks to be but a mound among many near the base of the large Zekiran colony's mountainous stake. The Glenn dragon site is looming above, with the caverns there filled with dragons and their assorted friends. Below, however, the lush forests begin several miles away, creeping up certain sides of the hills. A grassy plain with lakes and a river is framed by those forests, and it is here that the entrance to the Keep is found.

Within the first few feet of the Keep's stone entrance several things become evident: that the size of the hill is very deceptive, and that the wolves certainly didn't make all this themselves. It took several Zekirans and local Kin types with the appropriate psionics and magics to hollow out the hillside and join it to the caverns found above in the peak. Long, twisting corridors are lit occasionally with the pure sunlight from outside, via hidden and well-kept 'window' ledges. If you look closely they can be spied from outside, but only if you've been told what to look for!

Several dozen large caverns are scattered around the hill, with plenty more smaller more private dens that each wolf or their companions share as needed. Birthing dens, study halls (complete with scrolls and books from other worlds), and a weird platform room where visitors from the Nexus often arrive are connected by the corridors. Flight is hardly an issue inside, the corridors are almost twenty feet tall and some are wide enough for two wolves to spread their wings side by side. Small dragons can enter but rarely would they be able to actually cut loose in here. It's not that big.

Certain areas of the Keep drift under the meadow and in fact one room diverts a stream for bathing and drinking. Up toward the peak end, the corridors are a bit cooler and dark, as no sunlight can penetrate half a mile into the mountainside no matter what a mage might try. Each room is marked with the wolf's individual scent, and corridors are similarly signed - if a Kin type enters they'll have no trouble telling where to go and who lives in each room. Human and other non-scent-typed races won't have it as easy, but there are plans to put plaques on the doors and indicators in the halls for those folk who need them.

Since the land here is largely temperate, snow in the winter is uncommon but possible. Summers are dreadfully moist, and you'd often find not only the wolves but the dragons and Kin lounging around in the lakes at that time. Spring brings a bonanza of flowers and crops, as well as a bounty of new births in the native wildlife. There is little to fear from over-hunting, even the plentiful dragons in the area would have a hard time eating all the hoofstock, rabbits, birds and large lizards that reside here.

Among all the species who inhabit this world by choice, the winged wolves are the most likely to accept true Human interaction. They have little or no predisposition against them, as the Kin types do, and are often unable to even distinguish them from Zekirans who don't show many mutations - color is not an issue with this pack, after all.

One side of the hill is devoted to healing, ministering and learning, birthing dens are more common toward the center of the Keep's area. Entertaining and eating, bathing and lounging chambers are more toward the front.

The two other winged wolves having come straight from their home in Taheyr Roahai, the home of many winged wolves. They will eagerly assist Meneia in her duties, but they are also given to help with physically tending and raising the young dragons, hunting, and gathering people for hatchings. Neither of the Alskyran wolves can compete with the wind magic that Meneia has, and that is somewhat galling to the outgoing Eeita.
