Hardly ever seen apart, except during classes, Violet and Purple were definitely the two closest of the sisters. Violet was smaller by a little bit, leaner and faster than her taller, more stately sister. But they both had their work cut out for them, and never took it less than seriously.

They were the first among the girls to pick up weapons and begin using them against the Combine. Even before Indigo asserted herself as their leader, they knew their place. They were the offense and defense, they were the sword and shield.

Though they were quite a lot alike, their powers and their chosen subjects were quite different, by necessity. Violet of course concentrated her attention on active principles: Speech for being able to command in a combat situation, Archaeology to know the history of warfare from the inside out. Her choice of Measuring Up in math, made for a good companion to Chemistry - between the two she would easily be able to figure out explosives and demolitions.

Violet's love of weaponry and tactics made it easy for her to swish past Gresilla Hagen's classes, though Purple did just as well in the same ones in different periods. Of course, Paintball was more of a distraction and practice for Violet than anything else, keeping her hand in with actual combat; for Purple she concentrated her efforts on hand to hand Martial Arts - it never hurt to know just what to do if some enemy got past your defenses. Violet had cause to use her sonic powers as both shield and attack, and though there were classes about such things in the Magic department, she didn't really want to drift so far away from the normal campus.

Purple's class 'Optimism Under Duress' was certainly an eye-opener for her - the kind of 'duress' that the cloned sisters endured on a daily basis from their early days in their world, was far worse than what kids here at Carramba might expect. Violet brought many informative tidbits to the Current Affairs class she shared with several other sisters.

Purple then took several more broadly intriguing classes - Multiplanar History and Martian Studies. While 'Martians' were not really the true subject of the class, more Alien Issues in general, it helped the girls understand the mindset behind some of the creatures and people they would encounter in the wild.

Because she was already quite good at spotting hiding places, judging angles and the like, Purple's participation in the Hedge Mazes class was superior, and her Cartography class was a breeze. Both of those, also, quite functional for the use of the group, to keep them safe, and to allow them to move refugees from place to place with minimal casualties.

The pair spoke in terms of casualties, collateral damages, and the like. It did unnerve some folks, but not the dragon-class instructors. Most of them had battle experience, and some even went through incredible odds to reach this world. The riders showed great respect toward the group of clone sisters, and helped them out by holding numerous seminars to find the 'right ones'.

Who would the right ones be for this pair? Who knew... But they'd better be able to keep up!
