Glitz and Glitter

Pearlie, Viddie and Gusher headed from the Mall toward the dragons with gusto. The girls latched on to the strange blue-haired guy mostly because he appreciated their fashion and their overbearing ways much more than anyone else seemed to. Oddly though, he never hit on them, because he was such a 'gentleman'.

They were faintly oblivious to the fact that he was gay. In fact, one might say they didn't care he was, because they got the right kind of attention from him, and different types from the other men in the Mall.

Gusher was shy, reserved most of the time, but he liked to chat and talk shop with the ladies. Viddie especially, because of the whole 'watching videos' thing. But Pearlie was fun to play dress-up with. She never heard a complaint when they played around as younger kids. If it had been Cabbie for instance, trying to use make up and put him in high heels? Um, no. But Gusher always enjoyed it.

Maybe too much, but for these girls there was no such phrase.

"I want to go there, oooh, look," Pearlie exclaimed as they looked over the information packets for the dragon sites, "they've got glitter!"

The other two immediately took interest. Viddie glanced over the information and said, "you know, Pearlie, even though you're named after pearls you could be the golden child."

"I love gold," the flaxen haired young woman said. "And pearls. But you look so good in silver and platinum," she said to Gusher, who blushed. "It brings out your ... hair." She giggled.

"But they say 'all that glitters is not gold,'" Gusher said quietly, "there are more things than just gold and silver."

"Right!" Exclaimed Pearlie, and Viddie scooted away from her, sensing the rant about to come. "There are rubies, and diamonds, and onyx, you like onyx, and emeralds and sapphires! And cubic zirconia, which everyone says is fake but how can it be fake if it's so darn pretty!?"

Viddie grinned, "You're forgetting tigers eye, and topaz and amber," she said. "Alabaster, and corrundum, and all those other things. But give me silicon or give me death!"

"Not silicone?" Asked Gusher.

"Not a chance! I've already got the best boobies in the Mall, why would I want to screw it up with some pocket of jello?"

Once they were finished with their selection, they approached one of the riders. "We'd like to go now," Viddie said, "and it's to Dragonwillow, their fancy-schmancy Glitz clutch."

"... I figured you'd like that place..." Said the rider, "You won't all fit with me, do you have your things?"

They indicated five pieces of luggage - three of which were Pearlie's.

"oooookay then." The blue rider called for another, and a brown with his rider, a burly dark-skinned woman, appeared shortly. "These kids need a ride. You want to take the baggage or what?"

"You are baggage, little man," the woman said with a big grin. "I'll take one and the bags, I'm guessing those are yours," she looked at Pearlie. "You might want to put something warmer on. The teleport through the Nexus is really cold."

"Legwarmers!" Yelled Pearlie, who darted into one of the shops, and came out with a bright pair of knitted leg bands. She was going to hand the others their pairs, but both Viddie and Gusher had opted to dress a little more conservatively for this trip.

"Well then we're on our way?" Asked Tony, the blue rider. T'ver nodded, and helped Pearlie up to her brown.

The flight was cold, colder than any of the mall crawlers could have guessed. But they arrived to the beautiful weyr and were settled in almost immediately. The dragons guarding their eggs on the sands were simply beautiful. All colors of the rainbow and then some. Some seemed to glimmer even in the smallest light...

"They're so lovely," Gusher said, dabbing at his eye with a kerchief.

"There there sweetie," Viddie comforted him, and they waited for Pearlie to stop haggling with the locals for where they'd be storing her stuff...
