"Welcome to the Egyptan Realm Preserve," says a dark-violet skinned woman. The heat coming off the desert dunes of this area make it hard to see her at first, but she smiles and presents her hands in a friendly welcoming gesture.

Viridia is a Zekiran immortal, leading a number of other Immortals on a quest to locate a new homeworld. They pick up many creatures on the way - view them by clicking on the image!

"I am Viridia, keeper of the Egyptis here on Zekira. They have a long, interesting history, would you like to hear it?"

Nodding enthusiastically, you sit and Viridia offers you a chilled drink. She speaks carefully about the timid creatures of this Preserve. You think you hear some shuffling and soft animal sounds, nearby, but her voice covers the noises.

"In order to tell this story you must know that this was not their original home. Their race was on the verge of extinction where they had been living. Travelers from this planet, Zekira, found a scattered band of Egyptan, and wanted to give the race a chance to prosper again. So now, in the deserts east of Busho, we have given a new home to the Egyptis. Since the Egyptis are intelligent creatures, we allow them to call their little part of the world Egyptan, so their transition would be smoother."

"We call them Egyptis when we speak of them as a whole, and Egyptan in their tribe or singular creatures," she clarifies. "Egyptis on their original home world were considered mystical and almost magical in nature. Now on their new world of Zekira, they have developed even stronger abilities and powers, since they are no longer hunted for their beautiful fur."

"In the wild, they could disappear into the dunes they lived in, and hypnotize their foes. Now, on Zekira, those abilities have extended to others! They can read thoughts, change emotions, even manipulate their environment (a Water Egyptan can purify water, a Fire Egyptan can light small fires, etc) to a small degree. Each Tribe's ability should be obvious!"

"They all have the ability to speak -- though it may be mental speech, dream-talk or just plain speech. Egyptis like to hover around dreams, since they exist not only as physical creatures, but as ethereal ones too. A strong dreamer can attract many Egyptans to them, but by morning, the foxlike creatures disappear! Perhaps that's how your site will attract its own Egyptans!"

"Egyptis have two-toned fur like earthly foxes, but they also have five tails, and two sets of feathered wings, plus a long feather-like frill on their head. No Egyptan will ever go to a page which features animals in danger -- they are very sensitive to this, and never leave each other in danger. That was why their kind was hunted almost to extinction."

"Though they are very protective of each other, to get a new Egyptan to come to your site, each page must be different. You can have more than just an Egyptan on a page, like different Water based animals if you wish to attract a Water Egyptan. But no more than 3-4 of them! Egyptans are very shy, so they do need their own space!"

At this time a lovely Egyptan of almost the same color as violet Viridia is, approaches, along with her dark red mate. "Ah, I can let them speak for themselves now," Viridia says. "Here are Twilight Rosetta and her mate BloodBright."

The female purrs and rubs up against her mate. "The transition was easy with you," she tells him. "Our tribes thrive here because we are no longer in danger. Here we have time to play and to learn how to master our powers."

"I have noticed that you have different colors of fur," you tell her. "Why is that?"

She gives off a pleasant chuffle, "because we are that way! Besides, here on Zekira all the animals and people come in many different colors. We are very like them, and that is why we chose to come here. We feel comfortable among their native creatures. They appreciate us. But about the colors, yes. We have many. Even more now that we are at home again.

"Can I see some?" You ask, and the violet Egyptan consults with her mate. Then, Viridia gives a little wave of her hand when the Egyptan chuffles at her.

"Go ahead," She tells Rosetta, "I think they're ready for your instructions." She turns to you, and warns, "don't touch anything just yet, wait for their approval first."

The Egyptan leads you around to a dune, and on the other side of it is a kind of flat badlands area. There are many burrows and hills dug up, nesting places for the Egyptan. In fact, the whole vista of the Egyptis Preserve can be seen from here, and it looks as though there are a lot of interesting terrains to view. You can see Egyptans scattered among trees, on rocks, in the sand burrows, and even up against a building nearby. They seem to have adapted very well to their new home.

The female gives off a high-pitched chirping sound, bringing several young Egyptis into view. They are quick and skittish, very graceful creatures indeed. The older ones appear elegant, while the young seem curious and cute.

"Here are each of our stages of growth. The cub, the teen and the adult. They come in many colors which I will tell you about if you ask, I know the most about our kind, at least, the ones which are normal for us. The other, hidden colors might show up but you never know when. Even we do not know."

"How many colors do you come in?" You ask, curious.

"Well, before we came here there were around thirteen shades, but we organize ourselves based on tribal abilities - the colors only reflect what we can do. Each tribe and color likes to gather around certain types of things, keep that in mind if you would like to sponsor one of us. But now, there are more than two dozen tribes, we are able to concentrate our powers and learn new ones quickly. A cub might start their own new tribe, by using a new power."

"Wait... 'sponsor'? What do you mean?" You ask.

"Why, didn't you come here to adopt one of us?" Rosetta asks, and you think about it.

"What else would be involved in adopting one of your kind?" You ask, curious now.

"Well, there are a few rules we like you to follow. They are listed on that sign over there, Viridia will help you with the formalities." BloodBright tells you. His voice is smooth but you sense a bit of wariness about him. He would only allow his kind to be adopted to the most dedicated of people.

"Here is the list of rules for anyone wanting to sponsor an Egyptan," Viridia says, indicating the sign. "You must follow the rules and understand that if you break them, we will take the Egyptan away from you - and that is cruel to everyone."

RULES FOR SPONSORING EGYPTANS
1
You must have a web page. These are cyberpet images and are for viewing online, not on a desktop. NO NEOPETS PAGES - EVER. No exceptions. Neopets are fine to have, but the Egyptan may never be uploaded to Neopets.com.
2

You must click and take the image and download it to YOUR computer, and then upload it into your web site's directory. NEVER link directly with html code to any image on this or any other site. Bandwidth restrictions close down many cyberpet sites because of this!

If you want to try for a special or new type of Egyptan image, please upload the Coccoon image only, place a link as below, and request via email.

3
You MUST provide a link back to this site. The images were created by JONA, and some have been recolored by Lethe for the site. (Linking images are found HERE. not working yet)
4

Egyptans do best on pages that do not have a ton of other pets. They don't mind a couple, but never put an Egyptan on a "list" of pets, they don't deserve to be ignored like that.

Try and create a page which is appropriate to the Egyptan's Tribe. Each tribal section will show you how to do that. Some Egyptans like to have lots of things on their pages, some don't.

5
Do not claim that you created or drew any of the images you find here. Jona and I, and all the other cyberpet creators on the net, work very hard to make interesting pretty pets for your pages. We are sad when people steal our work.

"So if you think you can work with these rules," Viridia says when you're done reading, "you may now start looking for your Egyptan friend. They start out as cubs, but if you follow all the rules which you find when you locate the Egyptan you wish to sponsor, it will grow up with you."

"Take a look at the areas you can visit, or just wander around. If you get lost, just remember to find the Egyptan "Home" sign - it will take you right back here."

((THIS LIST IS CURRENTLY INCOMPLETE!! ADOPTION IS STILL VIA COCCOON ONLY ON THE GROUP!!!))

"What do those mean, Space, concept... Event?" You ask, confused. "There are 'event' Egyptans?"

Viridia laughs, "yes, there are. Their markings might be as mundane as 'black', they're Night Egyptans! Or, as exotic as the beautiful Winter Egyptans. You might never know unless you check them out! I encourage you to look at all of the tribes first."

"Okay... But what if I don't find one I like?"

"Well you're free to examine other options. You might suggest a new tribal type." Viridia ponders. "If you have a particularly good locale for the Egyptan, you might be able to choose just what their powers could be. Most new tribes are variations on old ones, though. Who knows?"

"Well, I guess I'll start looking! Thanks for all your help!"
